Exciting News

Well guys, this week I'll be doing a couple posts and only one will be about animals. Today however I found out some very exciting news....

I'M GOING TO BE A GODMOTHER!

My best friend of 19 years has just announced her pregnancy to me and has asked me to be the godmother. It is a very exciting time preparing for the new little one. I finally have someone to buy baby shoes for(I think those are just the cutest).

I have already been asked to do the gender surprise party and the baby shower as well. So if any of you have any ideas or tips for these please comment! I'm going to need all the tips in the world. She's the creative one who always plans the events and I just get everything done.

If you guys have read this go ahead and comment on any ideas you have or have seen fromsomewhere else any little bit helps!

Thanks guys!

RIP Andrew

This week is a sad week for me and my family. Monday night I came to visit and found my cat looking very sick. He was puking repeatedly and salivating constantly. We instantly rushed him to the vet. She told us it was something that he ate and she wanted to keep him overnight to keep liquids going through his system to help him pass it. When my mother called to check on him she gave us the bad news. He had passed away during the night due to a heart problem.

He was 12 years old and was fine just days before so it was sudden and was a surprise. The house will be a lot emptier without him begging to be fed constantly and not having him laying in his box that no one is allowed to touch. He was the biggest goofball and always tried to climb on top of everything and was there to comfort you when you needed.

I got Andrew was I was 7 years old and went to a friend's birthday party. He was a barn kitten and they were trying to find him a home. I knew my parents wouldn't want another cat so I tried to ignore this little kitten, but he refused to be ignored. He followed me everywhere I went and slept with me that night and cried when my parents took me home. I begged my parents to let me have him and they said no. I gave them the silent treatment for days. And if you saw me as a child you would know there was something wrong. I never shut up.

After a day of me not talking my parents talked about it and decided to let me have him. I was so excited and immediately started to talk their ears off about the whole party and about Andrew.

The next day we went and got him and it was one of the best days of my life. I followed him around every where for the first week he was with us. He always came to bed with me when he was a kitten and I would play with him for an hour and then we would go to sleep. As he got older he slept in bed with me less and less, but there were still days he would climb into bed, play with me for an hour, and then go to sleep.

It has been a very rough couple of days and I know it will hurt for awhile, but he was the best cat I could have ever asked for and I loved him.

RIP Andrew...

Butterflies

Today I am going to talk about butterflies. I will admit that I was stumped on what to write about so asked my family and someone randomly yelled out butterfly so I guess I'll learn some new things as well.

They have six jointed legs, 3 body parts(head, chest, tail end), a pair of antennae, compound eyes, and an exoskeleton.A butterfly's body is covered by tiny sensory hairs. Butterflies can only fly if their body temperature is above 86 degrees. Butterflies sun themselves to warm up in cool weather. As butterflies age the color of the wings fade and become a bit ragged.

There is a lot of things about butterflies that I didn't know. They truly are an amazing species and I feel bad now for trapping them in buckets and forgetting and leaving them there. They are beautiful creatures with all their amazing colors and the shapes of the wings are very unique.

Today I am going to talk about lions. Lions are one of my all time favorite type of animals. I believe this is because of my childhood(maybe even a bit of my adulthood) obsession with the Lion King. I LOVE the Lion King and watch it once or twice a year with my daughter. She has all of the Lion King movies memorized line for line because of me.

Lions are a bit odd.Usually males do the hunting in most other species, but for Lions it is actually the females who hunt. The females hunt because they are smaller and more agile then the males. The males however do protect the pride's territory and the cubs from other animals and lions. If you watch the Lion King then you know what a pride is but if not a pride is a group of lions of about 30 depending on food and water source. There is usually 12 females roughly and three males and the cubs.

Lions spend about 16-20 hours sleeping a day and are the laziest of the big cats. They are very affectionate to one another, rubbing heads, grooming, and purring. much like house cats occasionally do.

Huskies

This week I will be talking about Huskies and although I don't personally own one it is my goal in life to have owned a Husky.

Huskies can usually be very vocal dogs. Not all huskies are though. There is a man at my dog park who has 4 huskies and they are each very different. One on them is very whiny and all he does is "yell" at you when you are not watching him or you aren't petting him. The girl of the group is very calm and is the only one my dog gets along with. She is very good with puppies, but there is one bad thing about her. She loves to drag her butt across the ground and get it dirty. Nobody knows why she does this but she does it every day without fail. The other male and tiniest of the group is very rough. He likes to bark and growl at other dogs and loves to chase all the other dogs and then tackle them to the ground. He's a bit too aggressive for my taste. Last but not least you have the leader of the pack. He is the biggest and the loudest of the group. He usually stays quite unless a new dog is coming into the fenced area. If he growls at a dog then they will all gang up on the one dog. He doesn't care for my Dante too much since he is so tiny to him and so he usually tackles him down so we have to put Dante in the small dog area, but that will only work for so long.

Each husky has their own personality like all dogs and I hope to one day own one of these beautiful dogs.

Princess Update

Today I will be giving you an update on my little princess. She has discovered the other animal in the house and that if she rolls around in front of the dog that he will attack her ball and knock the lid off. So she is free! She then plays keep away with us and will hide behind and under things until someone can get a hold of her and into her ball.

She loves to eat her bars in her cage. We aren't sure if she is trying to break out or if she is just trying to file her teeth down like hamsters tend to do. Now that it is colder out we have to take more precautions to keep her warm. We put more of her bedding in the cage so she can hide under more of it and we have put a blanket over her cage because our furnace is currenlt broken. Hopefully it will be fixed soon so she can just curl up in her ball in the corner of her cage and sleep in her bedding.

I love the little trouble maker (or as my brother says the devil) and am happy that she is happy in her home.

Dante-Update

So this week I will be giving you an update on how the new puppy is doing as well as in another post write about another animal.

Dante is a very happy puppy and loves to always be with someone. You can't leave him alone in a room or else he will start to cry and whine and scratch at the door to be with you. We believe this is because he may have been abandoned as younger puppy and now has abandonment issues and separation anxiety. Sometimes we have to leave him in the kennel when we leave and he hates it! The poor little guy cries and cries while you are gone and whoever lets him out better watch out! He will jump on you and kiss you and not leave your side for at least an hour after you let him out.

Dante loves to play. He always tries to convince the cat to chase him, but the cat just won't have that. He will hiss and swat at him to leave him alone. Eventually Dante leaves him alone and finds someone else to play with.

We are still working on potty-training and training him to not jump on people, stay, sit, and lay down. It'll take some time but he is a smart boy and will get the hang of it with time.

As always I have some pictures of him below so that you can see him and his adorableness. Enjoy!
